Bicknell's Thrush night flight call?
September 28, 2005 - Submitted by Matt Orsie
My question concerns knowing whether I have recorded a Bicknell's Thrush call or not. I have many Gray-cheeked thrush recordings and have heard variation in their frequency range. Is the only distinctive characteristic the higher frequency range between their calls? I'll bet there is overlap in that regard. Or, are there other characteristics to look for like the trailing edge of BITH falls off more gradually? In any event I'd be interested in any opinions on the following two calls I recorded a couple of night ago:
Fig.1. Presumed Gray-cheeked Thrush night flight call (24Sep05 in northeastern West Virginia).
Fig.2. Bicknell's Thrush night flight
call ? (25Sep05 in northeastern West Virginia).
