Baird's Sparrow Ammodramus bairdii
Flight call description A high, short "tzi" or a slightly longer "szee" with a tinny quality (note limited sample size: see Discussion).

Examples Diurnal
Similar species Appears to be shorter, higher, and more sibilant than Grasshopper Sparrow. Similar to Nelson's Sharp-tailed Sparrow but apparently does not have the descending character often seen in that species.
Behavior Nocturnal migrant. Gives flight call while perched during the day and presumably during nocturnal migration.
Discussion Our experience with this species is limited to several individuals on the breeding grounds.
