Flight call description A high, weak "tseev". Usually downward arched, but variable.

Similar species See Pine, Palm, and Yellow-throated Warblers. Similar to Cape May Warbler but softer, lower, and not as buzzy. Less descending and usually weaker than Northern Parula.
Behavior Primarily a nocturnal migrant but engages in redetermined migration. Gives flight call regularly while perched and in flight during the day, and presumably during nocturnal migration.
Spectrographic description Measured calls (N=15) were 37.4-58.7 (47) mS in duration and in the 5.2-8.7 (6-8.2) kHz frequency range. The frequency track was variable but typically gently downward-arched and usually double-banded though the upper band was often faint or incomplete. There were sometimes fine modulations with a spacing of 4.6-5.7 (5.2) mS between humps.
