Perched bird.
Similar species Very similar to Pine Warbler but may average lower. Northern Parula is higher and more descending. Prairie Warbler is higher and less descending. See descending seeps.
Behavior Primarily a nocturnal migrant but engages in redetermined migration. Gives flight call occasionally while perched and in flight during the day and presumably during nocturnal migration.
Spectrographic description Measured calls (N=3) were 29.3-54.4 (39) mS in duration and in the 5.3-7.7 (5.1-7.3) kHz frequency range. The frequency track was single-banded or with a faint second band. It was descending and gently downward-arched with a downward bend at the beginning.
