Flight call description A soft, whistled "whit-whu-whee" with the middle note usually highest. Also a two-noted "whu-whee", a single "whee", and mellow whistled "hee" which is typically given in series.

Similar species Distinctive.
Behavior Thought to be primarily a diurnal migrant but begins movement before sunrise. Gives flight calls regularly while perched and in flight during the day. Not known to give flight calls at night.
