Dickcissel night flight call monitoring

The primary focus of this season was the 2005 student challenge award. The acoustic stations at the Science Academy of South Texas (station SAT) and at Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge (station LAA) were operated every night from April 26 through May 13. The station at LAA logged 594 Dickcissel flight calls during this period (see spreadsheet of night by night totals below). The challenge for students was to estimate the total recorded over the station SAT during this period. Student estimates ranged from 549 to 1,928. The actual total at SAT was 633.
